Pertex is a mounting medium intended for use after clearing in xylene, ethanol and some xylene substitutes. Pertex is a quick-drying, xylene-based mounting medium with low viscosity. The low viscosity makes the medium flow out easily over the slide and prevents the formation of bubbles. A thin layer of Pertex is sufficient for mounting.

Pertex has the following attributes:

• Is invisible since the refractive index (1.492) is very close to the refractive index of glass
• Preserves the colour, form and structure of the slide over time
• Fast drying
• Compatible to xylene
